Service activities of Nishkam Sewa Bharti Trust

Nishkam Sewa Bharti Trust, Jalandhar, is a non political, nonprofit able service oriented charitable organisation.It is registered with the Registered of Firms and societies vide certificate No. 613 DT. January 24, 1992. It is registered under Income Tax Act 1961 u/s 12-A vide no. JUDL/Trust/21- N/6154 and u/s 80 –G of Income Tax act 1961 vide Income Tax Commissioner Letter No. JUDL/Trust/1289.

Needless to innumerate the aims and objects of the trust-NISHKAM-SELFLESS ,S E W A S ervice,E ducation, W elfare and A ction.All the trustees of the trust(including Lawyers,Doctors,Chartred Accountant,Businessmen) are well known in the field of Social service and are selfless workers.
In the short span of its existence, trust has achieved various landmarks:-

(A) EDUCATION
1. Trust is awarding students scholarships to the poor, needy and intelligent student every year from various Schools and Colleges irrespective of their caste and creed, religion, place or state.
2. Trust has organized 14 such annual functions to award scholarships to these students- The trust has so far distributed scholarships worth Rs. 20 lacs to more than 1000 students.
3. Applications for the award of scholarships are invited from the students through Newspapers as advertisement and news items in English, Hindi and Punjabi dailies. Application duly recommended by the head of the institutions is scrutinized by a committee comprising of an educationist (a principal of a college/ school), an administrator (an I.P.S. /I.A.S. /I.R.S.) and a member of the trust. This committee gives their recommendations for the award of scholarships to the students.
4. Trust provided School/College books and note books through out the year to the poor and needy students.
Trust provided all the expenses for the magazines/newspapers and mess charges of very brilliant students, completed his B.Tech. And was preparing for the competitive examination.
5. Trust provided Shoes/Chappals/Sweaters and school Dresses to a number of Students in the slums and semi urban and rural areas of Jalandhar.

(B) MEDICAL CARE
1. Trust organizes Free Medical Check Up camp at different intervals from to time in the slums, semiurban and rural areas of Jalandhar, So far 40 such camps have been organised.Free consultation by General physicians, Medical Specialists, Eye Specialist, E.N.T., Gynae and obst., Children Specialist have provided to 18000 odd patients, Free medicines worth Rs.10 lacs have been distributed in these camps.
2. Not only the free consultation and medicines in these camps, but unlike other, the trust keeps a track and follow-up of the patients to provide advance health care and treatment to the needy patients.
3. Trust has provided financial assistance to patients with advance Kidney Failure, One patient was given finances for the Dialysis and another for the Kidney Transplant.
4. Trust is providing medicines worth Rs.500/- month for the last 3 years to a young boy from a very poor family suffering from Diabetes Mellitus (Sugar).
5. Trust organized a free Advance Technology Nasal Surgery camp and Medical Education programme in Jalandhar in 1992 .Super specialist from Delhi, Pune, Shimla and Army formed the faculty. Free Nasal Cosmetic and reconstructive operations were done during this two day conference.
6. Trust is running and managing a Free Charitable Dispensary in the name and style of DR. JATINDER ARORA MEMORIAL CHARITABLE DISPENSARY in Ranjit Nagar, Ladowali Road,Jalandhar since August 1995.Two Medical Officers and a team of Specialists including Eye,E.N.T.,Gynae & Obst.,Medical specialist, Children Specialist, Dental surgeon are providing health care to the patients, free of cost. Free medicines are dispensed to all the patients. I am pleased to inform you that the trust dispensary has provided free treatment to 82,000 patients .Medicines worth Rs.8.2 Lacs have been dispensed so far.
7. Trust is running a charitable clinical laboratory at the Dispensary on No profit No Loss basis. The laboratory has carried out 20000 tests on 4000 patients so far.
8. Trust is running a FREE E.N.T. Clinic at Verma Hospital, 11, Gujral Nagar, Jalandhar, and every Tuesday evening. Hearing Tests are done free of cost, Hearing Aids are provided free to the needy and the poor.1500 such patients have been examined and treated.
9. Trust provided Polio drops during Plus Polio Campaign.
10. Trust has organized Hepatitis B camps at its dispensary.

(C). SERVICE
1. Trust provides all the expenses in the occasion of the marriages of the poor girls.Clothing, household utensils, and sewing machine and all over items are provided .The barat is provided with breakfast and lunch on the trust expenses. The trust has earmarked separate funds for such activities. Till date, the trust has helped 30 families.
2. Trust has been looking after the abandoned newly born infants. These small babies were left taken over by the trust, treated with utmost care.Lateron we found childless couples who were interested to adopt the babies. It is learnt that babies are doing fine and the parents are happy with their children.

FUTURE PLANS
1. It has been observed by the trustees who have a long standing in the field of service to the Humanity-Our Senior Citizens and Orphans are in a state of neglect. The concept of unit family system, a recent trend in our society has further added to their woes. Our senior citizens and Children need much more attention and care at that very age. This is the time their bodies cannot carry out their routine life actions.NISHKAM SEWA BHARTI TRUST has taken up this challenging project to construct an Old age home cum Orphange.For this efforts are going on at different stages to start this grand project. This project will have residential accomodation, kitchen and dining rooms, library, indoor and outdoor games facilities and a health centre.
2. Trust intend to extend the services rendered at its dispensary in Ranjit Nagar,Jalandhar.We plan to extend the building, installation of an X-Ray unit and provide Facilities for E.C.G.
3. We plan to convert this Dispensary to a full fledged multispeciality Hospital with indoor.outdoor, Modern Laboratory and State of the art technology. This will provide health care to the poor and sick at very nominal but affordable charges.
4. The rural population of India is not getting proper medicine care and education, the trust has plans to introduce a mobile van to cater the needs of the rural population as for as possible at their doorsteps. This mobile van fitted with all the necessary equipment and managed by a team of trained medical professionals and paramedical staff will provide medical care to the needy.
5. The trustees feel a great need to start an institution for the physically handicapped. We have already applied to Punjab Urban Development authority for allotment of a plot of land in Jalandhar under their scheme. This institution will serve the dire need of the handicapped including visually handicapped, Hearing Handicapped, mentally challenged and physically disabled.
6. Trust is starting a charitable Physiotherapy unit in New Ashok Nagar, Basti Shiekh Road, Near Shenai Palace, and Jalandhar. Building has been constructed and equipment has been purchased (courtesy M/s Kapson Ind Ltd.Jalandhar). This unit will start functioning soon in yr 2008. This will serve the patients from all age groups having musculo-skeletal problems. Wax bath, knee & shoulder joint exercises, ultrasound treatment are few of the highlights from this unit. This unit will have a free dispensary with clinical laboratory and X-ray unit.
7. Food scarcity is very much prevalent all over the world. Hunger and malnutrition are the major social and health problems. And there is lot of food wasted in our celebrations, parties, marriages and other functions. An air conditioned van will collect food from these functions with a toll free phone number. This food will be refreshed and distributed the next morning to the needy and starving population in charitable and non charitable organizations and slums of and around the city. The trust is working in this direction and plans are being formulated. This project is ‘‘FOOD FOR ALL’’ will serve food to the hungry and malnourished peoples of our society.

PRESIDENT, Dr. Ishar Dass son of a poor farmer in Distt. Hoshiarpur ,now a private medical practitioner, has risen from poverty and seen poverty from near quaters. A soft spoken, humble, respectable ,has never injured the feelings of any body ,believes in upliftment of the lower starata of the society through educational activities. Both his sons are medical doctors with postgraduate qualifications.


S. MOHINDER SINGH

PATRON of the trust , from a village in Distt.Ropar , an I.R.S. working with Income Tax Deptt. as Commissioner . A very noble kind hearted, soft from the core of his heart and above all a person with a mission to help the poor and the needy, in his mind, a guiding spirit for all the trustees and Known As BHISHAMPITAMAH of Nishkam Sewa Bharti Trust.
